With a spectrophotometer and DisplayMate calibration software by our side, we set about optimizing our TVs for use in a dark setting.

If you want to get really fancy, the Samsung LN32D450 has a few video modes expressly for calibration. One, RGB Only Mode, displays only the red, green, or blue channel at a time. Another, White Offset, gives you six sliders to adjust color temperature for RGB offset and gain. The last, Color Space, lets you determine the TV’s color space: either Auto or Native to the source.

The LN32D450 doesn’t overwhelm you with preset video modes. Instead, there are a set of four to use as starting points for your own adjustments. We liked Movie, but there’s also Dynamic for those of you calibrating in a sunny field.

Coming from an LNT4061, LNT4069, and, most recently, an LN40A650, I’d happy to say that Samsung LN32D450 has yet to disappoint. The Samsung quality is all there and it feels considerably evolved from the previous generations I’ve owned. I’m using Samsung LN32D450 as an office monitor and television – for both occasions,Samsung LN32D450 is a terrific set. The colors are vivid, the sound is crisp, and I have yet to experience any issues with Samsung LN32D450. I’d also note that this television, while considered the entry level for 2011, is slightly thinner and substantially lighter than other 32″ models within the Samsung product lineup and other companies’ models within the same price range. There ARE thinner and lighter 32″ TV’s, but you’ll spend an additional $150+ just for the size difference. This was a deciding factor in my case, since I wanted an easily wall-mounted TV without breaking the bank. I’d highly recommend this particular model for anyone looking for a bedroom/office television. Samsung LN32D450 is just the right quality and size at just the right price.

Samsung LN32D450 is an excellent TV at a very good price. I bought one for our bedroom and it is just right for our 10X15 foot sized room. I bought Samsung LN32D450 because we were very pleased with a 47″ Samsung we recently purchased for our family room. I don’t see any major difference in this 720ip picture and the larger 47″ at 1080ip. Not every program is broadcast at 1080ip.
